“Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?” Romans 2:4
The Body of Christ lost a pillar of the faith today. Ravi Zacharias is one of, if not, my favorite modern-day theologian! His life was a true testament to the power and love of Jesus Christ. His passion and excitement for the Scriptures were contagious. When speaking about his risen Lord, his joy was overflowing. I and many others consider him to be a monumental figure within the Christian church. He was a man so evidently filled with the Holy Spirit.
During my first year of Bible college, I had the opportunity to see him preach from the pulpit. I was nineteen at the time and had only previously heard him online. If I remember correctly, he spoke about the importance of the Christian walk and why our testimony carries spiritual weight. Even though I cannot recall exact sentences from his speech, my feelings are still vivid from that experience. He spoke with such conviction and surety that I left inspired by what I had just heard.
During his life, he wrote more than thirty books proclaiming and defending the truth of Christianity. Ravi had the God-given ability to bring the reality of Jesus to the skeptic. His defense of the faith did not come from a place of pride but of humility. Throughout his ministry, the desire to see others come to know the goodness of Jesus was front and center. I want a life like that!
One of Ravi’s favorite talking points was that God’s goodness is often revealed to us when we are most desperate. It is then when we have no choice but to look heavenward and call upon the name of the Lord. Ravi, himself, had a moment like this. Check out this video of his miraculous testimony!
