“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” – 1 Corinthians 15:55
Truly, Jesus’ victory over the grave is the most magnificent event in human history. No other event can compare to how miraculous and awesome it is! This miracle stands boldly in the face of and puts to shame the awful truth that we will all eventually die.
“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
When the fear of death grips us and we are powerless to change the outcome, what a great comfort we find in the Scriptures. They boldly declare that death could not hold Jesus and if you believe on Him, you will have everlasting life! For the Christian, this is the greatest of truths. Upon it we find hope in a hopeless world, strength in times of disparity, and new life after death. Thanks be to God!
Jesus says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.“ – John 15:13
As we celebrate on Resurrection Sunday, let us remember that the perfect love of God has been revealed to us in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. He is our Living Hope who sits at the right hand of God in heaven. Death can not have victory over us because it had no victory over Him. We need not fear anymore!
Before Jesus was crucified by His people, He spoke to His disciples saying, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
